In order to help Karen youths continue further education, TBCAF set up study loan since 2005. We lend money to students from poor families for school fees, transportation and other living costs. Two main kinds of students we support are those who study teacher program and public health program. Students get more knowledge and education on one hand. On the other hand, these youths can go back to villages in the future, helping community development. Even though they didn’t go back to village for work, they can be the bridge between Karen and Thai people.
From 2005 to 2018, there are more than 30 Karen youths benefit from this project. Each one got 6 months to 4 years support depends on their real needs. Those who graduated and started to work pay the money back so that we can continue to help new students who are really in need.
